DANIEL
Daniel was not only a college graduate, he was the smartest of the smart in Babylon. His God-given specialty was "solving dreams, visions, riddles and very hard story math problems." In fact, Daniel , who was the Vice President of Babylon, had an excellent reputation for his divine ability to unravel the mysterious symbolism of dreams. There was no one at that time who was as skillful as Daniel in interpreting the mysterious communications of God to human beings that was transmitted down from Heaven through the medium of visions and dreams. So if you received a dream you thought contained important information, then Daniel was the person to see, for there was no one in the entire nation who was as skillful as he in interpreting symbolic messages.
But then a most amazing thing occurred: Daniel had a dream himself, and to his utter astonishment, he didn't have a clue what it meant! Fortunately for Daniel, he was smart enough to acknowledge that all his skills of interpretation came from God, so he prayed for divine assistance.
God answered his prayer by sending the angel Gabriel to tutor Daniel and help him understand this important dream (you can read what Gabriel said in Daniel chapters ten through twelve). As Gabriel interprets the dream and explains the various symbols, an astonishing thing unfolds -- Gabriel's interpretation is as garbled and as mystifying as the dream itself! Gabriel even acknowledges this -- He basically says to Daniel, "Sorry old chap. these words are sealed. You are not allowed to know what they mean." Daniel 12:9
The point is this: The Bible is the Living Word of God, and if God decides to hide something in it, you can be assured you will not understand what God is saying, no matter how smart you are or how long you search for the answer. You can do all the exegesis you want; you can read the works of the finest scholars; you can consult the best commentaries; but the overriding truth to it all is this: If God hides something in Scripture and it is not yet time for it's meaning to be revealed, then you will NEVER figure out it's meaning.
