Bad News for Brainy People

JOB The book of Job is a philosophical discourse on the problem of human suffering. It consists of Job experiencing a whole series of disasters, followed by Job's three friends gathering around him, with each one giving his intellectual viewpoint as to the causes of Job's pain. As you read the exchanges of each of these men, you realize their arguments are sophisticated, carefully constructed, and consistently logical. But all this changes when God shows up! God quickly reveals the utter foolishness of all their human reasonings. In fact, God demotes all of them back to spiritual kindergarten when he says, "So you guys think you're pretty smart! Well tell me then: How deep are my oceans? Explain to me how clouds are made. Show me where the Gates of Death are located. Tell me the weight of how much snow I currently have stored up. Show me your great powers by moving some of my stars around. Demonstrate your prowess by manipulating my lightning!" When God finished challenging them, all their collected and lofty wisdom was reduced to ashes. All of them were wrong about the causes of Job's suffering because the role of Satan was hidden from them. If you are wise, then you will learn this important lesson from the book of Job: If you do not have revelation knowledge from God, you will always miss the whys and wherefores of what He is doing or saying, no matter how smart, studied or Ph.D'd you happen to be. |
