THE NEW THING
God is a God of Movement. He is going places, and he calls us to come with Him. God invites all his children to walk with Him, but not many obey. If you are afraid of anything new, then you are already in danger of lagging far behind our Living God. The path out of the barren desert into God's promised land of abundance is a "new and unknown path," as Joshua was told by the angel:
"When you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, and the priests, who are Levites, carrying it, you are to move out from your positions and follow it. Then you will know which way to go, since you have never been this way before." Joshua 3:3,4
If you want to enter into your own Promised Land, then you are going to have to accept and deal with new ideas, new concepts, new emphases and new understandings. Don't forget that our God is a God who loves New Things:
God does new things in judgment. Numbers 16:30
God loves to hear a new song. Psalm 33:3
God brings forth new things. Isaiah 43:19
God shows his people new things. Isaiah 48:6
God gives people new names. Isaiah 62:2
God will create a new heaven and earth. Isaiah 65:17
God will make a new covenant. Jeremiah 31:31
God will put a new spirit within you. Ezekiel 11:19
God will give you a new heart. Ezekiel 36:26
God gives us a new commandment. John 13:34
God makes Christians into a new creation. 2 Corinthians 5:17
Make no mistake about it: God loves doing the New Thing, which means it's something you have never known before. Prepare yourself for the New Things of God.
