Bad News for Brainy People

GOD'S WAYS ARE NOT YOUR WAYS "'For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,' declares the Lord." Isaiah 55:8 Every knowledgeable Christian knows this verse. Why is it then we are so cocky to conclude that we or our denominations are the ones who have "figured God out?" Like it or not, every church is filled with doctrinal impurity. Need proof of this? I suggest you reread Christ's message to the seven churches in Revelation chapters 2 and 3. Each one possessed different strengths and weaknesses. The same is true today. The defects in the Baptist church are different than those in the Adventist, Catholic, Lutheran, Episcopalian, and Nazarene churches. All of us would do well to admit that as individuals and denominations, we have "missed the mark" of all God called us to be. God is always at work among his churches, and if you want to know what New Thing God is doing, then you would do well to keep your eye on all the different denominations. When Jesus walked the earth as a man, he would do miracles in Bethany, but you would never know it if you lived in Capernaum or Emmaus or Bethsaida or Bethlehem or Jerusalem. In the same way, Jesus may not be currently doing his miracles in your church, but he may be at work among the Pentecostals or the Charismatics or the Fundamentalists. If you want revelation knowledge, then you are going to have to actively seek it. "You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." Jeremiah 29:13 |
