THE MYSTERY OF CHRIST
One of the mysteries that is mentioned in scripture is the intimate union that is going to occur when Christ takes the church and makes her his bride:
"For we are members of his body. For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.' This is a profound mystery -- but I am talking about Christ and the church." Ephesians 5:30-32
The King James Version says "This mystery is GREAT!"
A serious error occurs when you and I encounter these verses -- we think that just because we have read it that we understand it! I would remind you of another great mystery:
"E = MC2"
I am able to read that, and I even know that it is very important -- but I don't understand it. I know atom bombs come from this formula, but I don't have a clue as to how or why. The time has come for all us Christians to acknowledge our mental deficiencies, and admit to one another that we don't have the final handle on either God or his Word. Remember: Just because you can read it doesn't mean you understand it!
