Bad News for Brainy People

THE AGE OF FEAR We already saw that the disciples could not grasp the truth about Christ's crucifixion. We also noted that they didn't understand because it didn't fit their theology. There is one more reason why the disciples couldn't grasp what Jesus was saying, and that was their fear: "While everyone was marveling at all that Jesus did, he said to his disciples, 'Listen carefully to what I am about to tell you: The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of men.' But they did not understand what this meant. It was hidden from them, so that they did not grasp it, and they were afraid to ask him about it." Luke 9:43-45 We are now entering into what Christ called the "Age of Fear," Luke 21:26 and all of us will be in danger of letting this flood of fear sweep us away. If you want to stay on the cutting edge of what God is doing today, then I suggest you get a solid grasp of God's love for you, for only God's perfect love is capable of casting out the fear that hides within us all. 1 John 4:18 Your own inner fears (and believe me, you have them) have to be conquered and dealt with if you want to become a living vessel capable of containing God's revelation knowledge. If you are willing to deal with your self-defeating fears, I suggest you begin the battle by agreeing with Paul's powerful prayer: "And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge -- that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God." Ephesians 3:17-19 Pray in faith, and as God's love fills your soul, with it will come beautiful revelation knowledge. |
