THE LIE YOU WANT
There is a strange statement in the Bible that says God is going to give people "the Lie that they want":
"They perish because they refused to love the Truth and so be saved. For this reason, God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie." 2 Thessalonians 2:10,11
I have known about this verse for a long time. What I had not known is that the lie is contained in the Bible itself! Peter confirms that this is true:
"Bear in mind that our Lord's patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him. He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction." 2 Peter 15,16
You need to be fully aware that just maybe, part of what you have embraced from the Bible is the lie that you wanted. If you want your own lies desperately and badly enough, God will let you have them. Be very careful, though, because when those lies finish their work, it will mean your destruction. It is far better to wrestle with Truth through the dark night of your soul and end up with a broken hip in the process, Genesis 32:22-32 than it is to go whistling down the road to Hell, arm in arm with the lie you love.
