THE WHOLE BIBLE IS A PARABLE 

The parables reveal something very profound about our God. On the surface, they are simple stories taken from the natural world to help the people understand the supernatural world. At the same time, the parables are spoken to keep Truth hidden: 

"His disciples asked him what this parable meant. He [Jesus] said, 'The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of God has been given to you, but to others I speak in parables, so that, 'though seeing, they may not see; though hearing, they may not understand.'"  Luke 8:9,10 

If you are a religious, college-educated person, the bad news is for you -- these were the people of Christ's day who consistently found their brains glazing over when they heard the parables spoken to them. 

Here is some more bad news for you: the whole bible is a parable. The stories in scripture were hand-picked by the Holy Spirit out of trillions of possibilities. Why were they picked? Because of the spiritual lessons hidden in each one. Believe me, if the Holy Spirit doesn't reveal these messages to you, all you will end up with is a briefcase full of names, dates and places.
