Bad News for Brainy People

WE NEED ONE ANOTHER The eye cannot say to the hand, 'I don't need you!' And the head cannot say to the feet, 'I don't need you!' On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor." 1 Corinthians 12:21-23 There are many denominations, but if they "name the name of Christ," then they are part of His Body, which He calls the Church. Like it or not, the Methodists need the Lutherans need the Adventists need the Baptists need the Mennonites need the Quakers need the Pentecostals and so on. No matter how "weak" a denomination may be in its doctrines, if they possess a correct understanding of salvation through Christ, then Paul says that church group is "indispensable." If you want revelation knowledge from God, then you are going to have to learn the lesson of Christ feeding the five thousand with the bread and the fish: The Bread represents Christ -- eat all of Him. The fish represents fellow Christians -- they are good for food, but you must learn to spit out the bones! Keep what is good from each group, and spit out the rest. The point is, Jesus has designed his Body so that we need one another. This forces us to be open and it forces us to be humble. There is no other way to get a fuller understanding of what God is either doing or saying in the World today. |
