GOD RESISTS THE PROUD 

If you want to be on the "inside track" of what God is doing and saying, then you are going to have to stop being proud of your "advanced knowledge," your keen intellect and your "Lone Ranger Christianity." God hates pride, and He will cut you off if you persist in it: 

"All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, 'God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.' Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time." 1 Peter 5:5,6 

For those of you who are wise, you need to learn the lesson of Ahitophel. Although he was considered the wisest man in Israel, he became more interested in political power than in righteousness, and he sided with Absalom's rebellion against David.  

Even though Ahitophel's counsel remained as brilliant as ever, God frustrated it, and Ahitophel's life came to an abrupt end when he committed suicide. 2 Samuel 17:1-14  No matter how smart you are, if God decides to "frustrate your counsel," your only real course of action will be to repent, and get yourself back on the right side of God. 

You are going to have to stop asking yourself, "Am I smart enough to understand God's Word?" The correct question is, "Am I humble enough to understand God?
