Bad News for Brainy People

KEEP YOUR EYE ON THE CHILDREN

"And a little child shall lead them." Isaiah 11:6

If you want revelation knowledge, then keep your eyes on the children. A good example of this lesson is the crisis of faith that June Allen Beckett wrote about in the Adventist Review, August 9, 1990 (page 16). She shared how her daughter and her three grandchildren perished in a fire, and how that dreadful knowledge devastated her heart.

She tried to find comfort and solace at church, but all the people seemed to talk about was the dreaded Time of Trouble that hangs like a sword over every Adventist's head. All that talk of the earth's final and darkest hour only added gloom and depression and sorrow to her already badly damaged spirit.

Finally, after begging God for help, the Holy Spirit spoke very clearly to her, and he said "Go to the children, to their Sabbath School! Their songs are of heaven; their teachers are telling them what you need."

She obeyed this divinely given revelation knowledge, and for a year she went to learn from the children what Jesus was doing and saying among her Adventist people. There she listened as the children sang praises to a God who comforts and protects; there she learned again at how glorious Jesus' Second Coming will be; there she say flannel boards that showed happy stories with smiling felt people; there she bathed her battered spirit in the simple faith and joy of the little children. As she stayed with those children for that whole year, she was healed of her intense grief and deep sorrow, and she was restored.

She sat with the children, and by doing so, she was sitting with Jesus.
