THE BURNING BUSH Do you want to hear from God? Then you are going to have to learn to stop and take a closer look at the bushes around you that He is setting on fire! Notice this sequence of events with Moses: "Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up. So Moses thought, 'I will go over and see this strange sight -- why the bush does not burn up.' When the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, 'Moses! Moses!' And Moses said, 'Here I am.'" Exodus 3:2-4 God did not speak to Moses until Moses first came over to investigate this burning bush, and when God talked, it was from within the burning bush itself. The spiritual meaning is this: If you want to hear from God, then search out some men and women that He has set on fire! The God that is within them will then speak to you personally! If you want a place to start, I suggest any of the books by the following people: Jack Hayford, John Wimber, Rick Joyner, Francis Frangipane, John Sanford, David Wilkerson, Bill Hamon, Paul Y. Cho, and Charles Colson. If you would like to hear some burning bushes speak, I suggest you read any of the following books: Hippo in the Garden by James Ryle (Creation House 1993) --This book is fresh, fun, hip, and very supernatural. Some Said It Thundered by David Pytches (Thomas Nelson Publishers 1991) --Great stories about a whole "nest" of prophets at Metro Vineyard in Kansas City. Power Encounters by Kevin Springer (Harper & Row 1988) --A whole lot of ordinary people having extraordinary encounters with a Supernatural Jesus! |
