ANOINTED LEADERS 

How can you tell whether the Jesus you love is suddenly speaking through one of your companions? The way to tell is compare them with how Jesus spoke: 

The people hung on Jesus' words.  Luke 19:48

The crowds were amazed at his teaching.   Matthew 7:28,29

The crowds listened to him with delight.  Mark 12:37

Everything Jesus spoke was "well said."  Luke 20:39,40 

When you do hear these "Hometown Prophets" speak, you are going to have to guard yourself from jealousy. This is the reason the Pharisees killed Jesus -- He was drawing bigger crowds than they were! 

Prepare yourself for the day when the crowds flock to hear these "newcomers" speak, and abandon you in the process. This is not necessarily a reflection on you; your message will be over and God will be using new messengers to carry on where you left off. 

If you want to be pleasing in God's sight, then prepare yourself to say with John the Baptist, "This new teacher must increase, but I must decrease." John 3:30
