The Hidden Jesus
-Wounded Lawyer
|
It was the Judgment, and I was on trial in the courtroom of Heaven. Satan was the prosecuting attorney, Revelation 12:10 and his case against me was airtight. He had boxes full of damning evidence: movies I had watched, magazines I had purchased, even my diaries where I had recorded my failures in my own handwriting. He also called to the witness stand literally hundreds of people I had sinned against or offended throughout my life. The more I saw, the more I knew I was sunk. I desperately looked over at my defense attorney, the Lord Jesus Christ, who was sitting at a table with me. I was appalled at his apparent lack of concern: He just sat there quietly, calmly watching all this terrible evidence mount up against me. He didn't have any boxes of evidence to refute Satan's accusations, nor did he have law books to consult, and he hadn't even brought a briefcase! In fact, he didn't even have a yellow legal pad on which to write any notes! And never once did he speak up and say "I object, your honor!" |

All my defense attorney Jesus did was just SIT THERE, his hands quietly folded in his lap! I was doomed! Even if this was Jesus himself defending me, the hard evidence was so overwhelming that God would surely have no choice but send me to Hell for my sins. Revelation 20:11-15 Finally, after what seemed like a year's worth of damning testimony against me, it was now Jesus' turn. My case appeared absolutely hopeless, with no way to possibly escape the judgment that must surely come against all my sins. But then as I watched, a most incredible thing happened. The stern Judge of Heaven turned towards Jesus and said, "SON, do you have anything to present on behalf of your client, the accused Eugene Borg?" |

A small, sad smile appeared on Jesus' face as he looked at the Judge, whom I now realized was his FATHER, 1 John 2:1 and then the smile disappeared and was replaced with a hard glare as Jesus slowly turned his head to stare for a moment at gloating Satan. Then Jesus looked back at his Father, and without even rising from his chair, he lifted his hands slowly from out of his lap and opened them up, revealing to the Judge two gaping holes in his scarred and wounded hands. The courtroom was filled with a terrifying silence. With shocking realization it slowly dawned on us all that Satan had given Jesus these gruesome wounds, for at the cross of Calvary the Evil One gave the order for his human slaves to pound those rough iron nails into Christ's healing hands and crucify him to death on a brutal cross. As the Father beheld what Satan had done to his gentle and Beloved son, his face filled with boiling rage, and then He exploded with great fury. He grabbed his gavel and slammed it so hard on the desk the whole room shook with it's thunder. He took a fast look at me and shouted "Case dismissed!" Then the Judge of Heaven jumped out of his seat and yelled for the Bailiff. |

"Bailiff! Arrest that wicked and vile creature!" He said, as He pointed in trembling rage towards a now cowering Satan. "I condemn him to eternal death for the torture and murder of my Beloved Son! Now take him out and throw him into the Lake of Fire, and don't be gentle as you do it!" Revelation 20:10 It was a stunning turn of events as I walked out of that courtroom a free man. As I pondered what had just transpired, I remembered what the Bible said, that Jesus died at Calvary so I could live. Hebrews 13:12 I understood again that people don't go to Hell because of their sins, but because they don't get Jesus' blood. Revelation 1:5 |

Because I had accepted Jesus as my personal Savior, he had already taken my punishment for me, Hebrews 9:15 allowing God to declare me "Not Guilty," because Jesus was condemned so I wouldn't have to be. Isaiah 53:5 What a defense attorney! Because of Jesus I now walk into an eternity of Heaven a free man. And so I say to you: if you are still guilty of your sins, there is still time to make Jesus YOUR defense attorney. Just ask for the wounded lawyer. John 3:16-18 |
