Why I Am a Christian and Not a Muslim

1

Christianity is based on the promises and gifts of God coming to humanity through Isaac, the genealogy through which Jesus descended.

"And God said [to Abraham], Sarah your wife shall bear you a son indeed. And you shall call his name Isaac. And I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him."
--Genesis 17:19 MKJV

However, the Islam religion states that the salvation of mankind comes through Ishmael, the brother of Isaac. Mohammed the prophet is a descendant of Ishmael, and he claims his divine destiny is greater than that of Jesus.

The Bible makes it very clear that even though God loves both sons of Abraham, God's promises, blessings and salvation for the entire human race clearly come through Isaac's genealogy, because that is the line Jesus came from. You can read about the genealogy of Jesus coming from Isaac in the gospel of Matthew, chapter 1.

2

The Bible was written by over 35 authors, whereas the Quaran was written by 1 author, Mohammed. This means that Christianity has over 35 authoritative voices proclaiming the truth about Jesus as the son of God and Christianity as the true religion, whereas Islam is based on the testimony of only one man, Mohammed. Even our court system recognizes that the more witnesses, the better.

3

Jesus, who is the son of God, never married while he was on earth because he is the groom to a church of billions of believers. This means that in Christianity, no one gets left out from a deep, personal, intimate relationship with the living and Most High God.

The prophet Mohammed, on the other hand, was married to at least 13 women during his lifetime, including one girl whom he married at the age of 9. Even the Quaran says a Muslim should only have 4 wives.

4

Jesus was a man of peace, and his whole purpose for coming to earth was to bring healing, hope, deliverance from demons and demonstrating God's incredible love for people. This is what Jesus said about his ministry on this earth:

"Jesus answered and said to them, 'Go and tell John again those things which you hear and see: the blind receive their sight, and the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear; the dead are raised, and the poor have the gospel proclaimed to them. And blessed is he, whoever shall not be offended in Me.'"
--Matthew 11:4-6 MKJV

On the other hand, the prophet Mohammed was a man of war who slaughtered many people that refused to accept Islam as their religion. The teachings of Jesus strongly encourage his followers to "turn the other cheek" and to "Love one another" and to "pray for your enemies," whereas the teachings of Islam encourage violence, warfare and terrorism.

5

Jesus gives the gift of eternal life as a free gift to people, but in order to be saved in the religion of Islam, the good Muslim has to prove to God that their good deeds outweigh their bad deeds in order to get into Heaven. So Islam is a "religion by works," whereas Christianity is a religion of grace.

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
--Romans 6:23 MKJV

6

In Christianity, we are clearly told that "God is Love."

"The one who does not love has not known God.
For God is love."
--1 John 4:8 MKJV

But if you look through the 99 names of God in the Islam religion, love is not even mentioned as one of God's attributes! In addition, Christianity proclaims that God is eager and willing to be called "Father" and to esteem us as His "children," but Islam does not have such a tender, loving, gracious, accepting and nurturing view of God.

"For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For you have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption by which we cry, 'Abba, Father!'

The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are the children of God. And if we are children, then we are heirs; heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ; so that if we suffer with Him, we may also be glorified together."   --Romans 8:14-17 MKJV
