PRURIGO NODULARIS --Mercury Dangers
This article is paraphrased from Dr. Wright's newsletter, October 2003 issue of Nutrition and Healing. It's talks about the dangers of Mercury. The next time you go to a dentist in California for a filling, you will get a fact sheet letting you know that the mercury in amalgams can harm the developing brain of a child or fetus, and that such amalgams cause exposure to mercury, a chemical known in the State of California to cause birth defects and other reproductive harm. In July of 2003, the Dental Board of California voted to require dentists to inform their patients about the health hazards of mercury in dental amalgams. Any dentist failing to provide this fact sheet should be reported to the Dental Board of California. I suspect that other states in USA will follow not far behind in adopting similar requirements. In May of 2003, a federal government committee called the Subcommittee on Human Rights and Wellness, went on the record with warnings about the health hazards of mercury. The subcommittee issued a report titled, Mercury in Medicine- Taking Unnecessary Risks, which states flatly: "Mercury is hazardous to humans. Its use in medicinal products is undesirable, unnecessary, and should be minimized or eliminated entirely." They also charge the FDA with negligence for failing to require adequate safety testing of the common vaccine preservative Thimerosol, which is nearly 50 percent mercury by weight. The report also sharply criticizes both the FDA and the CDC for failing in their duty to be vigilant and not acting or even taking offical notice when the total amount of mercury in all vaccines recommended for each child greatly exceeded the federal government's own limits for safety." The subcommittee went on to recommend that Congress should prohibit the use of "federal funds" or taxpayer dollars to provide any products containing any form of mercury unless no other alternative is available. This requirement currently only affects California. Therefore, people in other states should put pressure on their Congressional representatives so they are aware of this problem and take action to pass some meaningful legislation that can effectively stop the uses of mercury on all products.
