Spectrochrome light therapy here at home. If anyone is interested in reading about it go to www.dinshahhealth.org. It's quite clandestine and you have to follow certain specific procedures to get the books and equipment but I believe it is helping me.

Narrow Band Ultra Violet Light (NBUVB) --I started this treatment in March 2003 and was 70% better after 12 treatments in the light tube. This was very successful in clearing up the bright red patches of small bumps on my arms. I have continued the treatment, but have noticed very little improvement on the rest of my larger 1/4" and 1/2" bumps.

NBUVB/Thalidomide combo therapy - the treatment which has essentially cured me.

Tanning Booth --I also believe tanning helps me. Many people tan for different rashes, so it makes sense to me.

Ultraviolet Light (UVA) --I bought a full-body unit for home from this place: www.ultralite-uv.com/

It is really helping with the scars! It was expensive, $1626 with tax and shipping), but I think well worth it. I tried UVA a couple years ago and it did nothing. I read an article (plus posts here) about UVB and UVNB and wanted to try it. I was amazed at the improvement it gave me.

NBUVB --I've had good results with photo-therapy. I don't have insurance that covers official UVB treatments -- so I studied a bit on the web and found that regular tanning lamps contain UVB -- just not as concentrated as the prescription bulbs used in hospitals/clinics for UVB. For that matter, good ol' natural sunshine has UVB as well, but also at a lesser ratio to the UVA and UVC. I can tell the difference when I use the tanning lamp and when I don't. It definitely calms the sores down.

Sunlight  --As your body heals and your PN gets less and less red, and less and less raised, I found that the sun is my ally!! It used to be my enemy as it would only further irritate my PN. Now it visually heals my PN, sometimes even after one sitting. It's just amazing.

Tanning Bed  --I have tried tanning beds off and on over the last 3 1/2 years. More constant this time around. (PN since Dec/05) Since I started using one of their more high powered beds. Only runs 12 mins. because of the strength, I feel I have had more success w/it.

Sunlight  --PN is much as before, but after a spell in the sun I am better for a while.

NBUVB + Diet  --Personally I remain about 90% "cured" meaning right now I have about 8 open spots on my legs/feet but very little itching. My life is pretty normal. From thighs up, skin is good only with some scars. My regimen is a diet similar to OT's, as well as UVB light treatments.

MSM + UVB Light  --my PN is *almost* (knock on wood) completely gone, so I'm not focusing on NB right now. I'm covered in scars, but no new sores and the few remaining scabs no longer itch. MSM/UVB is what did it for me. But I emphasize that I don't have a *clue* if MSM/UVB will work for anyone else. I don't want to give anyone any false hope that it's a cure-all. I just don't know. I can only speak for myself.

I take 2 1000mg tabs of MSM twice a day (A total of 4000mg per day.) Plus I lay under a tanning canopy 2 or 3 times a week for the UVB. The UVB light helps the healing. I've tried everything else I've read about in this group that I could even remotely experiment with. The MSM/UVB is the only thing that has worked. And I've kept detailed records of the regimen/results because I don't want to trust my memory or mood-o-the-day perspective as to what's working or not.

Sunlight  --Once my PN stopped being so swollen, red, huge, etc the sun was the best thing for me. It dried it out so nicely. My scabs started a healing process I could literally SEE after 10-15 minutes in the sun. NO LOTIONS. Just a spray bottle to keep my skin almost continually moist.

Light Differences  --difference with a tanning lamp is just a matter of the relative concentration of the UVA, UVB and UVC rays compared to a specialized UVB lamp. But it definitely provides some relief -- for me anyway.

Sunlight + Chlorinated Water  --During the past three days I have joined a few of my friends at the pool. The sun and chlorinated water seem to be very good for my p.n.

Tanning Booth  --I've had good luck controlling my PN by using the tanning booth. I use the high powered 12 min. machine, seems to help the best especially if I do it at least 2 times a week.

UVA1  --Just finished 7 weeks of UVA1 treatment. I was nearly 80% fine in the end. This weekend I used occlution to heal the last ones of my bumps. I can now report that I'm not having any open wounds after this combination of UVA1 ond occlution.

Sunlight  --My PN consists of about 100 itchy spots, the majority of which are on my arms and legs. The only time I felt I was really improving was this past summer when I had the opportunity to go to the beach and soak in the ocean and lie in the sun. The spots became ALMOST invisible and ALMOST bearable. Now that the colder weather has returned, they're acting up again.

Antibiotics & UVB  --I haven't posted in a long time but I wanted to share my experiences of long term antibiotic treatment. I've been on 100mg a day of doxycycline and now 100mg a day of minomycin. My condition has hugely improved. I have no itching and no new bumps or open sores. I also had 32 treatments of UVB which helped immensely. I've now been to 3 derms who agree the long term suppression therapy with antibiotics seems to be the key for me.

IV Antibiotics & UVB  --For me, the two things you mentioned - antibiotics and UVB light treatment - seemed to help the most. Instead of the long-term oral antibiotics I took an 8-week course of intravenous vancomycin.

Sunlight & Ocean Water  --So I just came back from a week at the beach. The salt water was sooooo good for my skin - I made sure that I went in the salt water at least three times a day. Along with that came the sun also. My skin has cleared up so much. Most of the lesions are healed. Most are still raised: some have flattened out. Also, the itch is not as bad as before.
