Revelation --Chapter 1
Welcome to the book of Revelation. This is the first chapter; you can find the remaining chapters at the index located at the bottom or this and all pages. Since Revelation is a highly visual book, I have added pictures and animations to just about every verse. In almost every case these are thumbnails, and by clicking on them you can see a larger version of the picture. Also, please note I have NOT applied any personal interpretation to the symbols. Instead, I leave that between you and the Holy Spirit to work out for yourself. Enjoy! --Eugene Borg |

The Event |
1 |
A Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave to Him |
1 |
to declare to His servants |
1 |
things which must shortly come to pass. |
1 |
And He signified it by sending His angel |
1 |
to His servant John, --Rev 1:1 |
2 |
who bore record of the Word of God |
2 |
and of the testimony of Jesus Christ |
2 |
and of all the things that he saw. --Rev 1:2 |
3 |
Blessed is the one who r eads |
3 |
and hears the Words of this prophecy, |
3 |
and the ones keeping the things written in it, |
3 |
for the time is near. --Rev 1:3 |
4 |
John to the seven churches which are in Asia. |
4 |
Grace to you and peace |
4 |
from Him who is and who was and who is coming; |
4 |
and from the seven spirits |
4 |
which are before His throne; --Rev 1:4 |
5 |
even from Jesus Christ the faithful Witness, the First-born from the dead and the Ruler of the kings of the earth. |
5 |
To Him who loved us |
5 |
and washed us from our sins in His own blood, --Rev 1:5 |
6 |
and made us kings |
6 |
and priests to God and His Father, |
6 |
to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. --Rev 1:6 |
7 |
Behold, He comes with the clouds, |
7 |
and every eye will see Him, |
7 |
and those who pierced Him will see Him, |
7 |
and all the kindreds of the earth will wail because of Him. Even so, Amen. --Rev 1:7 |
8 |
I am the Alpha and Omega, |
8 |
the Beginning and the Ending, |
8 |
says the Lord, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty. --Rev 1:8 |
9 |
I, John, |
9 |
who also am your brother and companion in the affliction, |
9 |
and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, |
9 |
was in the island that is called Patmos, |
9 |
for the Word of God |
9 |
and for the testimony of Jesus Christ. --Rev 1:9 |
10 |
I came to be in the Spirit in the Lord's day |
10 |
and heard behind me a great voice, |
10 |
as of a trumpet, --Rev 1:10 |
11 |
saying, I am the Alpha and Omega, |
11 |
the First and the Last. |
11 |
Also, What you see, write in a book and send it to the seven churches which are in Asia: |
11 |
to Ephesus, and to Smyrna, and to Pergamos, and to Thyatira, and to Sardis, and to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea. --Rev 1:11 |
12 |
And I turned to see the voice that spoke with me. --Rev 1:12 |
13 |
And having turned, I saw seven golden lampstands. |
13 |
And in the midst of the seven lampstands I saw One like the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the feet, |
13 |
and tied around the breast with a golden band. --Rev 1:13 |
14 |
His head and hair were white like wool, |
14 |
as white as snow. |
14 |
And His ey es were like a flame of fire. --Rev 1:14 |
15 |
And His feet were like burnished brass |
15 |
having been fired in a furnace. |
15 |
And His voice was like the sound of many waters. --Rev 1:15 |
16 |
And He had seven stars in His right hand, |
16 |
and out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword. |
16 |
And His face was like the sun shining in its strength. --Rev 1:16 |
17 |
And when I saw Him, |
17 |
I fell at His feet as dead. |
17 |
And He laid His right hand upon me, |
17 |
saying to me, Do not fear, I am the First and the Last, --Rev 1:17 |
18 |
and the Living One, and I became dead, and behold, I am alive for ever and ever, Amen. |
18 |
And I have the keys of hell and of death. --Rev 1:18 |
19 |
Write the things which you have seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be after this, --Rev 1:19 |
20 |
the mystery of the seven stars which you saw in My right hand and the seven golden lampstands. |
20 |
The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, |
20 |
and the seven lampstands which you saw are the seven churches. --Rev 1:20 |
