If you are a Saved-Lost Christian, then you need to take a long, hard look at the "Parable of the Blood-Stained Bird." Leviticus 14:1-7.  When I first read this passage, it sounded like a voodoo ceremony:

Get a clay pot and put some fresh water in it. Into the water put a piece of cedar wood, a scarlet yarn and a stalk of hyssop. Now get two birds. Kill one of the birds and drain its blood into the water. Take the second living bird and dip it in the bloody water. Now take some of the bloody water and sprinkle it seven times on the person who wants to be cleansed from his infectious skin disease. Now release the living, bloody bird into an open field.

Strange ceremony, isn't it? As I prayed over this story, I knew that God did not just "throw some things together" to come up with a fancy ceremony to keep his priests busy! NO! Every element in this story is symbolic, and is filled with divine meaning. Although I don't understand all the symbols, here is what the Holy Spirit revealed to me:

The "infectious skin disease" is a symbol of sin. The fresh water is the Word of God, and the scarlet yarn represents the "thread of Salvation." Birds are symbolic for spirits (Example: Dove=Holy Spirit), and the bird that was slain is a symbol for Jesus, spilling his blood to save sinners. The live bird dipped in the blood is the Saved Christian, whose spirit is now "covered with the blood of Christ." The bloody bird released to "freedom in open fields" is a symbol of your freedom in Christ: "Whom Christ sets free is free indeed."   John 8:36

Here is the beauty of this parable: Do you have any idea how HARD it is for that living bird to get the blood off itself? Blood stains permanently, and is almost impossible to remove! When you are covered with the blood of Christ, you are that live bird: permanently stained with eternal security! Jesus sets you free through his blood, which makes you TOTALLY SAVED!
