Totally Saved  -Pig Slop            Hit Counter

I think everyone knows the wonderful story of the Prodigal son. Luke 15:11-32   One thing you might have overlooked is the glorious truth hidden in the pig slop. Since the Prodigal's job was to feed the pigs, you know he got pig slop on his clothes. Well, when he finally decides to head home, he doesn't get a chance to bathe first. He wears those filthy work clothes, and you know he stinks!

When his father sees him coming, he is so overjoyed that he runs out to meet him, throwing his loving arms around his stinking son, repeatedly kissing and hugging him. The father's love is so great that he does an amazing thing: He takes off his own rich, luxurious robe, and puts it OVER the stinking clothes of his son.

No doubt the son took a long, hot shower when he got to his dad's mansion, but remember: there was still quite a ways to walk before he got to his father's house. During that whole time of walking, the son was still wearing stinking clothes underneath his father's best robe.

This is exactly what we Sinning Christians are like. We did not immediately go to our Father's House in Heaven when we became saved. We still have a lot of "walking" to do in this dusty, sinful world before we get the long-awaited shower that washes away forever our sin nature. That comes later. 1 Corinthians 15:42-56

Meanwhile, we wear two sets of garments: The garment God sees on us is the righteousness of Christ. Isaiah 61:1  Underneath that beautiful robe  is our old, stinking sin nature. Every now and then, as Sinning Christians, we get a whiff of that old pig slop, and it really stinks! God knows all about your pig slop sins, but He also knows that when you reach your Heavenly Home, you will be forever clean. Take a closer look now at Christ's robe which you are wearing, and you will see that embroidered over your heart are the words, TOTALLY SAVED!
